Practical tips.

Which direction

Either: the passes are the same. From Selva, clockwise, you climb the Gardena first and finish with the Sella, descending back into Val Gardena.

What time to start

Early in the morning: from mid-morning on, especially in July and August, cars, buses and cyclists multiply. Evening, with low light on the Sella, is the other best moment.

When to go

May and June, then from mid-September to early October. On a few days, usually in June and sometimes in September, all four passes are closed to motor traffic for the Sellaronda Bike Day: check the dates.

Where to start

Anywhere on the loop: Selva or Ortisei in Val Gardena, Corvara in Val Badia, Arabba or Canazei. From Selva the loop is 62 km.
