Frequently asked questions.

How many passes do the Dolomiti Experience routes cross?
32 passes across five routes, from Sella di Cima Corso (886 m) to the Stelvio Pass (2,758 m). La Corona Imperiale delle Dolomiti is the route with the most passes: 12.
Which are the highest Dolomites passes on your routes?
Sella Pass (2,240 m), Pordoi Pass (2,239 m) and Giau Pass (2,236 m), followed by Valparola (2,192 m) and Gardena (2,121 m). Outside the Dolomites the highest is the Stelvio Pass (2,758 m), on L'Ellevolante delle Alpi Centrali.
Which passes make up the Sellaronda?
Four: Gardena Pass (2,121 m), Campolongo Pass (1,875 m), Pordoi Pass (2,239 m) and Sella Pass (2,240 m), around the Sella massif. The loop is about 60 km long.
When are the passes open?
Many Dolomites passes stay open in winter too, apart from temporary closures for snow; others, such as the Stelvio, Splügen and Staller Sattel, close from late autumn to spring. For motorcycles the best season runs from May–June to early October. Always check before setting off.
Which lesser-known passes are worth the trip?
Passo Valles, Passo Cereda and Forcella Franche on the Ottovolante Dolomitico, and Passo delle Erbe and Passo Furcia on the Corona Imperiale: less traffic, plenty of bends and views the big passes don't have.
